The keto diet is all about reducing carbs… but carbs taste good. This Cinnamon Orange Keto Waffle Recipe is so good you’ll forget that you aren’t eating carbs.
It seems crazy that you can mix eggs and cheese together and it equals a waffle right? But it’s so good! That is why this keto waffle recipe is CRAZY GOOD!
A chaffle is a waffle made with zero flour thus making it low carb. The combination of egg mixed with cheese cooked quickly in a waffle iron is what gives it a fluffy waffle-like taste…
Cheese + Waffle = Chaffle
The first chaffle I made (and ate) I was in shock. How could it taste so much like a waffle? Check out the keto waffle recipe I started with on my first basic Chaffle experiment over at That Low Carb Life.

I wanted to add a twist to this already delicious chaffle recipe and with the holidays approaching the sweet smell of oranges and cinnamon were filling the air. You’re going to love this breakfast… even if you aren’t on the Keto Diet or going low carb. Tasty morning breakfast with protein to set you up for a great day.
You are going to love this keto waffle recipe!
This keto waffle recipe is for one serving but you're free to mix up a few batches to feed the family. I have made these for my boys before and they gobbled it right up. It wasn’t until after his plate was empty that my oldest son asked if it was a new waffle recipe 😊 they had no idea there wasn’t flour in their fluffy waffles. I love my “Mom Super Powers”!
Crazy Good Cinnamon Orange Keto Waffle Recipe
(See recipe card format at end of the post.)
Ingredients:
- One large egg
- ½ shredded mozzarella (The “fancy” shredded cheese as it is grated much finer and mixes into the egg with more consistency of a waffle batter.)
- 1/2 tsp Grated orange peel
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Optional toppings
- Butter & sugar-free – low-calorie syrup
Notes before we get started on this keto waffle recipe: I like to bring the egg to room temperature. When you Wisk an egg at room temperature is gets fluffier and I’m all about a fluffy waffle!
Mom says to bring your eggs to room temperature if you want your result to be fluffier!
You should always wash your fruit. We will be using the zest of the orange peel so make sure you have washed that orange up before collecting the zest. Check out an easy fruit wash you can make right at home with products you probably already have.
This keto waffle recipe is so quick and easy you’ll be sitting down to eat within 4 minutes of mixing your ingredients. Check out this video to see how easy and quick these keto waffles are.
Instructions:
Heat up your waffle iron and spray both sides with nonstick cooking spray.
Crack your egg and whisk it using use a fork or whisk.
Use a grater or zester to zest about 1/2 teaspoon of orange zest or more if you would like.
You don’t have to actually peel the orange for this breakfast recipe so you can have it as a snack later if you want.
Add the zest to the whisked egg.
Mix in a pinch or 1/8 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
Add shredded mozzarella cheese.
Mix well.
Place half of the mixture into one side of the waffle iron. This mixture makes 2 regular sized waffles on a waffle iron that makes 4 waffles. (I’m pretty sure this was a wedding shower gift… so we are talking about my 14-year-old waffle iron) So, keep in mind depending on the size and shape of your waffle iron you might need to adjust how you add the batter.
The chaffle batter should cover the designated space for 2 waffles.
Use your spatula to spread the mixture evenly.
Close the lid to your waffle iron. Let it cook for about 3 minutes.
Since the batter doesn’t rise like it would if it had flour in it you might want to flip your chaffle over to crisp up the top side more. This step really isn’t required but I found myself wanting it just a little crispier on the other side as well. The chaffle is easy to flip once it has been on the waffle iron for 2-3 minutes. So I flip it and close the lid for 1 minute more.
Your chaffle should be golden brown.
Crazy enough… it will look just like a waffle!
The aroma of these chaffles smells like carb-loaded cranberry orange scones coming out of the oven at a bakery. Add a little low carb sugar-free syrup and a pad of butter to this Keto waffle recipe for a CRAZY GOOD sweet breakfast. Or this might be your dessert! This could seriously pass for a dessert.
You will completely forget you're eating a low carb diet with this Cinnamon Orange Keto waffle recipe. Add some orange slices and a little more cinnamon on top if you wish!
